Varadero Golf Club was designed by Canadian architect Les Furber

Furber placed the links track on the thin 3.5 km strip of land that’s known as the Hicacos Peninsula. Varadero Golf Club plays to par 72, is 6,856 yards from the back tees and wind often factors into a player’s club selection.

The course was officially opened on Oct. 26, 1999. There are five par five holes and five par threes on the par-72 layout that measures 6,856 yards from the back tees.

The course is divided into two distinct areas. Holes one to nine are basically flat, with the one exception being No. 8 where players can use everything from a five-iron to a nine-iron depending on if the breezes are frisky.

Water comes into play on the back nine where holes 11, 15, 16, 17 and 18 present various challenges on the way to the 19th tee.
